Review of Yuri!!! on Ice

The Storyline produced so many amazing moments, from sad to annoyed, disappointed to happy. The pace of the 12 Episode series went at a good speed and there was only one episode that didn’t focus on the main plot and that’s a good thing. Having that one episode to just gather our thoughts and feelings was a blessing. I never thought that ice skating could be so amazing and beautiful. When I first dived into this, I never thought it would have romance and that it would be between the two main male characters. I love it. I loved that the show took risks and it worked for me.

The Animation was normal, nothing too fancy but definitely not rubbish. It was pretty watching ice skating in Anime rather than with real people. The overall Sound of the show was amazing. From the opening song to the insert songs used in the performances and to the ending song. The sounds used for the skates hitting the ice to the voice actors being perfect for each character. I watched this in original Japanese with subtitles, and I did try to watch it in Dubbed but certain voices for certain characters made me laugh each time they opened their mouth. I couldn’t take it seriously, hence why I stuck with subtitles. To this day, the opening song is still catchy and memorable. I only need to hear the first few notes and boom, I know it’s from this Anime.

The Characters were all unique, fascinating, and gorgeous (although a few I could live without). Yuuri was a character that I easily fell in love with. His innocence and fragile state were something that I could relate too, with some degree. I knew once I saw him, he would be taking on a journey of change and growth in which that was shown throughout the show. Victor was interesting from the get-go, and although he was confident and outgoing, I knew that there was more to him than this persona he shows to his fans and friends. Yuri (Yurio) was a character I instantly hated, but then throughout the show I started to really like him and enjoy his presence. The romance between Yuuri and Victor didn’t feel too forced in my opinion, but I know others may disagree. I loved them and loved how it was all portrayed.

Overall this Anime managed to balance the show with Drama, Sport, Romance and a little bit of comedy. I loved this show with all my heart and can’t wait for the Movie and hope that it will eventually get a second season.

Review of Zetsuen no Tempest (Blast of Tempest)

The Storyline was actually really interesting, not only was it paced correctly had interesting themes but it also paid homage to William Shakespeare and two of his works; “Hamlet” and “The Tempest”. You had one of characters quote from “Hamlet” and she also said that the situation between the male main characters is similar to a situation in “The Tempest” and you also have the fact that “Tempest” is in the Anime name. I like the fact they had elements of his works in this Anime, although I haven’t read either of the books.

The Animation and Sound was actually pretty good. The Animation never had anything disastrous about it from what I remember and I don’t remember any sound issues either. The first opening song is my favourite song from the whole show. It was addicting catchy and just went well with the Anime and a bonus it was sung in English.

The Characters were all different, that much I can say right off the top of my head. Hakaze was an interesting female character and was really strong willed and never gave up. I felt that this Anime wouldn’t have been complete without this unique compelling character. I didn’t really like Mahiro to begin with as I just felt like he was being a jerk. I know he lost someone precious to him but I don’t know. I did start to like him but I just didn’t like him as much as other characters. Yoshino was an analytical, interesting character who I did actually like from the start but at time wasn’t really sure if he was doing and saying the right thing. I love the fact he was smart but I felt like that dragged him down at times. There are other characters but if I kept typing I will end up going forever.

Overall I really enjoyed this Anime a lot and it was the right amount of episodes. I think at times it was slow but a lot of Anime suffer from that so nothing that surprised me.  I would have loved it if it was English Dubbed but unfortunately it isn’t and I doubt it ever will.

Winter 2021 Anime...

I went into this new year of Anime hoping to be blown away by the amount of Anime I was watching. Although I did get blown away by some AMAZING shows which I will touch upon later on; there was Anime that disappointed me or was just plain old rubbish.

Ex-Arm (more like no... just no)
I always give new Anime a try; I really do. I tend to think about the positives and see if it outweighs the negatives but in this Anime I really couldn't. Ex-Arm could have been so much better if given to a better/capable studio. I am going to quickly point out that I could have stopped watching this from the moment I started but a part of me just wanted to SUFFER though this show just to see if ANYTHING could be gained from watching this. Don't get me wrong; this wasn't the worst thing in world to watch but it was close and is most likely the worst Anime I have ever seen. The storyline/plot and pacing wasn't even the issue it was EVERYTHING else. From the Animation, the fighting, the facial expressions to even the acting at times. Such poor attempts to conveying emotion in moments that needed to show sadness or happiness. Can "Minami" PLEASE stop smiling when stuff is going wrong...it really puts me off. Lastly I want to mention how horrid the last ending/finale was. Overall although this could have been a massive hit if done correctly but it ended up a pile of garbage and I am so sad about that.

The Promised Neverland 2nd Season (More like... The Not so Promised Land)
I go into sequels with high hopes it will either keep up the good work or improve. Don't get me wrong; I'm not hating this season. I am just very disappointed. I haven't read the Manga so I don't feel as disappointed as the Manga readers but even I can tell things are missing, things don't make sense, there is now flow and it just feels rushed. When things do get exciting and engaging it ends up being a disappointment whether that being its resolved to quickly or it's very predicable. I used to care for a lot of these characters but honestly I am slowly running out of patience to care for them. I know if I read the Manga I would most likely care for them more. I get why some characters are the way they are but I feel this season just ruined them. The finale although could have been better, at least the creators etc knew that this was the VERY last episode and therefore made an effort to end it, rushed but.. least it had an ending that wasn't terrible. Overall I am disappointed as the first season was AMAZING in every way and they just messed up this season.

Other Anime that wasn't as good as I had hoped it to be:
 Skate-Leading Stars  – 3 ½ Stars

--------------------------

Moving onto the Anime that stole me away and dragged me into their world.

SK∞ the Infinity (I never knew I would enjoy skateboarding)
I got drawn to this show because of the bright colours and just the sound of it sounded interesting and unique. I haven't invested any of my time to skateboard or do anything like that but with any other Sports Anime I watch I go into it blindly. I am so happy that this was a spectacular sports Anime that had good animation when needed and an epic soundtrack to fit with each moment. Not only was the pacing done good but they managed to keep me invested into all the characters; even the ones I'm not a big fan of. The relationship between the two main characters was one of the main elements in this show, and no matter how you view this relationship as; it was a strong, real and pure one. The drama, sports and soundtrack was top tier and I am so happy I enjoyed this freshly every week; even if it pained me to wait. Overall from the enjoyment of the whole show and the ending of it all; I am so glad I watched this. I doubt there will be another season but if anything did happen like that I would 100% be on board with it.

Dr. Stone: Stone Wars (I never thought this could get any better)
When I went into the first season in 2019 I never thought I would enjoy something so different and based around science but I did. I never thought season 2 would be better but it was. The risks were higher, the inventions was greater and the emotions were raised. There was so many twists and turns in this season that I honestly never knew if it would be in the right person's favour or not. The pacing was amazing and not once did I feel it was being rushed or felt like it was a drag to watch. I went into each episode every week excited, thrilled and nervous all the same. The characters were developed in an amazing way; they never spent longer that they needed to on each character. Although I did start to enjoy the other characters a whole lot more; Senku will always be my favourite and yes it is partly due to the fact he's the main character but also because he knows where his strengths resides and what he's weak at. Knowing this means he knows who he needs to get to help him and who could do a certain job he isn't able to. Knowing others strengths and weakness on top of his own makes him an amazing character. He was also thrown into crazy situations that made his emotions shown too. I also want to comment how at first I went into this not liking the opening song but now I just cant help but dance to it. The ending song was always such a good tune and very catchy. Overall I really loved this season and knowing there's going to be some sort of Anime sequel is a breath of fresh air. I can't wait to see what Senku and his crazy bunch will be up to next.

Review of Haikyuu!!

The Storyline being sports Anime isn’t really unique, but I am not sure if there is any other volleyball Anime out there, and if there is, please let me know. All I know is, I am very very very not a sporty person, so when I find an Anime that’s to do with sports that I like then it means it’s good. The pace was brilliant and the storyline ended was typical but yet I was grateful as I knew that there was going to be a second season.

The Animation was perfect and amazing especially the times when they were making really good shots to the other side of the court. The Sound was just as good, plus a bonus being the opening and ending songs were really good and suited the Anime down to a T.

The Characters  were interesting to see the least. No really I like the majority of the characters and I loved how each one brought their own personality and traits. The main character Hinata was definitely my favourite character from the whole series. I loved how wacky and young at heart he was and how he did whatever it takes and he never gave up to get to a stage of his career being a part of  a volleyball team. I also like his noises he makes “wooahh” “wow”. Also like his hair… maybe… and I love how short he is…. maybe…

Overall I really loved this sporty Anime and I can’t wait for the second season to come, as I know it’s hopefully going to go on the line of other sport Anime I have seen…

Review of Death Parade

The Storyline was unique, amazing, and brilliant and kept me going until the very end. Throughout the whole Anime I was on a roller-coaster ride full of emotions that I never knew I could possess. When I first got into the Anime I never thought I would end up crying. There wasn’t anything that I can fault on, with the storyline, nothing at all.

The Animation and Sound were WONDERFUL for the Anime. Had the most catchy tune for the opening and then a sad, ballad, rocky song for the ending. The animation for the endings was amazingly chosen, as in they had the ending different depending on what the main topic or issue or person the episode was about. Also the original voice actors and English dubbed voice actors WERE BOTH amazing and suited their roles really well.

The Characters that I can’t fault were amazingly written and AHHHHHHHH I loved them all for different reasons, especially the two main characters. The black-haired woman is the main female character and the reason she’s called that is because she has no memories of whom she is. She is strong willed and voices her own opinion even though she has no memories she knows in her heart how she feels and what she wants. Decim the main male character is just really cool, and has such a weird but awesome personality. I love how their relationship progresses through the series. Ginti is also one of my other favourite characters, as he’s just carefree and I just love him.
Overall I adored this Anime, and I am not normally the one that rates Psychological and Thrillers high ratings but this Anime, just blew my mind and whether or not you normally watch this kind of Anime, please give it ago.

Review of Golden Time

The Storyline wasn’t really unique, everything was little things taken from other Anime to make one Anime with all the elements. But even though I just said that… I really enjoyed this storyline and the whole Anime in a whole. One thing that really impressed me was the way they showed the amnesia problem with Banri, instead of seeing it from others point of views we saw it from his and the way its shown is amazing and I never thought of amnesia like that before.
The Animation and Sound was pretty good and fitted with the Anime very well, although I am little annoyed that the opening song and cover artwork etc. shows Kouko more even though in my opinion out of the three main characters, I felt that Banri was the one it should have centred more around.
The Characters were all pretty unique and different, but some did really annoy me at times, but it normally happens like this in most romance Anime. The main guy Banri, is who I felt sorry for the most, having to start his life from fresh and having people know more about the past you than yourself must be hard and how copes with all that happens during this Anime, I give him a golden star! (get it!?). The main two girls are whom I feel sorry for next… but I felt sorrier for Linda than Kouko. Kouko just annoyed me most of the time, although I do love her with Banri.
Overall I really did enjoy this Romance Anime, but some things were just so much like other Romance Anime that I have seen. I love how it showed things I am used to in a different light.

Review of Highschool of the Dead

The Storyline was well unique!... No that’s not it... crazy! Yes Crazy is the word I shall stick too. I do not normally go for Ecchi Anime, but the Zombie and Survival and all that won over the tag ECCHI!... If you don’t like Ecchi... don’t bother watching this Anime. The only reason I watched this Anime without giving up was because I managed to put it through my head that what I am seeing ISN’T REAL!... I shouldn’t keep talking about the Ecchi side. The horror, gore, survival, bloody and action side to it was AMAZING. I am not kidding I loved how it progressed but of course the ending LET ME DOWN… even if you add the OVA... it still let me down. * Don’t watch the OVA if you HATE ECCHI... IT’S EVEN WORSE in the OVA.
The Animation and Sound WAS AMAZING and perfect and was the elements that helped with keeping my interest in the Anime. The opening song was crazy good and catchy.
The Characters … well I am not sure what to talk about here. The main guy Takashi was the only character, bar Alice that I actually liked from the get go and I have never not liked him. The girls bar Alice were annoying, pathetic at time and I KNOW it’s hard to deal with Zombies, but COME ON.. You don’t have to keep showing off your BOOBS! Alice being the cute little girl I keep talking about was my favourite female girl character in the whole Anime and she didn’t even come into it from the start. The other guy Kouta was pretty funny at times and helped with the humor part of the Anime. One more thing on the characters part... I hate I HATE Koichi.
Overall I did enjoy the Anime… but the over-dramatic parts with the Ecchiness and just the Girl characters in general (bar Alice) just made this Anime pathetic at times. The ending also was… bad and I know there was a reason but still…
