Spring 2021 Anime...

What can I say about Spring Anime other than the fact I didn't really watch much this season compared to the last season. With this season; I'm finishing less than last season too.

The one Anime that I still haven't finished...

MARS RED (I don't know why I can't finish this...maybe I will "soon")
I don't know why but I can't finish this just yet. From what I have seen up to "Episode 6" it's not a rubbish Anime but it's something that I keep pushing to the side and I would rather be watching or doing something else. If anyone has seen this and really thinks I am being stupid not finishing this; let me know. I am in love with the Ending song which I have on my Spotify playlist. "And when the night falls upon, I just can't ignore the urge, Don't wanna hurt you, my love, But my heart can feel this urge".

My Rating: N/A
Anime Planet AVG Rating: 3.4/5 Stars

--------------------------

Moving onto the Anime that stole me away and dragged me into their world and wouldn't let me stop thinking about their world.

Fruits Basket the Final (I haven't cried this much since "Clannad")
The amount of times I should have learnt to have tissues on hand and never did. Even my fiancé warned me and he doesn't even watch this. If you have seen my past posts, you will know I have rated Fruits Basket highly ever since the reboot of this franchise. This season is just as good, if not better than the last two seasons. The start of this season is picked up right from the ending of Season two, when we got a big shocker. The emotional rollercoaster I went through watching this season was intense. The pacing of this final season was doing really well and even though this had less episodes than the previous two seasons, not once did I feel that was a bad mistake. The 13 episodes in this season was more than enough to conclude every characters storyline and to finish it without anything being missed out. All the characters had a chance to shine and in some cases; out shine the main characters. Tohru is still my cute innocent cinnamon roll who deserves EVERYTHING and more. I watched this in dubbed so I just want to hand it to the amazing English voice actors who did such an amazing job at their roles. I will say a massive shout out to the VA's of Yuki and Kyo who I felt went above and beyond in a certain scene in one of the episodes that just SHOOCK ME to my core. The opening song was also a good fitting for the show although I did prefer the previous season's opening's and the ending song was catchy. I also found it fitting that a certain clip of the ED just as the song is starting changes depending on what happened in the episode. Overall I really enjoyed all season and loved this season in particular. I can't wait for the spin-off (prequel) for this Franchise.

My Rating: 5/5 Stars
Anime Planet AVG Rating: 4.8/5 Stars
First Season Rating: 5/5 Stars
Anime Planet AVG Rating: 4.4/5 Stars
Second Season Rating: 5/5 Stars
Anime Planet AVG Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

SSSS.Dynazenon (In my mind, so underrated)
I loved it. I was always going to watch this as I remember how much I enjoyed SSSS.Gridman. Although this isn't a classed as a sequel, it is the same franchise and same universe. A little like how "Iron Man" is in the same universe as "Captain America" but they aren't sequels. I always felt like something was missing in Gridman and I think I found it in this. From the plot, pacing and character development; this was a strong upgrade from Gridman. The fighting in this was amazing and the only downfall for me was I wished the fighting was longer but I do understand they only had 12 episodes to start, develop and finish. All the characters were important to the plot and I wouldn't really say there was "one" main character but rather say a group of main characters. My favourite two main characters were Yomogi and Yume most likely due to how they were develop separately and together. They needed each other to grow stronger and to see their weaknesses and strengths. Having someone who you can rely on through thick and thin is such an important thing and it was showcased really well in this Anime. The opening song was catchy and upbeat and the ending song was really fitting. Overall I was deeply surprised by how much I got into this and felt this was an Anime that I see sticking with me for a while.

My Rating: 5/5 Stars
Anime Planet AVG Rating: 3.5/5 Stars

Moriarty the Patriot 2nd Season (Crime has never felt so good)
Didn't think it could top last season. I was wrong, so very wrong. From the start to finish I was hooked and waiting every week to watch the next episode was hell. The storyline is continuing on from season 1. The pacing is done really well so I never thought it was going to fast or too slow. So many intense scenes happened in this season and they done really well. Not only did they continue to develop characters that we were already introduced too in season 1 but they managed to introduce more characters and also develop them. My favourite characters in this season were Louis and John, mainly because they are just as important to this show than everyone else and yet I felt they got the least amount of attention. I think all the voice actors in this show did a really job and I was mesmerized by the acting in certain scenes. The opening song was catchy and addicting and the moment it was released I had it on my Spotify playlist fast than you can say "Catch me if you can, Mr. Holmes.". The ending song was also good but it will never beat the season 1 ending. Overall this season and most likely final season was such a blast to watch and the finale was epic. If another season were to happen; I will 100% be watching it.

Other Anime that was amazing and was just as good or even better than I had hoped:
Pretty Boy Detective Club - 4 1/2 Stars
Cute, funny and even at times emotional - close to being 5 Stars.
Tokyo Revengers (First half) - 4 1/2 Stars
Angst, violence and VERY emotional - some things just dragged it down from 5 Stars.
My Hero Academia 5 (First half) - 5 Stars
Deku.

Thank you for reading and I can't wait to put out more posts.

Top Anime Opening Songs of Spring & Summer (2020)

So now Summer is here. I haven't posted anything during this crazy situation we are all going through but now that it's the new season and Anime is coming back in full. It's time to tell you my favorite Opening songs in Summer but of course as I never did Spring, I am merging them both together.
I am also changing the format on how I am doing it this time. Video Format time. It's not the greatest as I don't have the best editing software but I did try my hardest. Spring Anime has a flower Icon in the corner and Summer Anime has a sun Icon in the corner.

Enjoy! ^_^

My Top 5 Anime in Winter 2020

A new year of stress, work but most the most fun of all; ANIME, I finished more Anime than I was expecting this season and so it really was hard for me to pick my top 5. As it was hard for me to do my top 5, I have added 2 honourable mentions instead of just 1.

Well here we go!

---

Honourable Mention #1
Darwin's Game (11 Eps) – 4 Stars
I have had bad memories of this kind of Anime becoming a total train wreck and I am so glad that although this could have been better; it was not a complete let down. It was entertaining, got me on the edge of my seat at times and made me want the next episode as soon as possible. It was slow at times and I felt some situations could have been removed from the Anime to add more important stuff. The actions scenes were amazing, and I loved that I sensed the danger and lives-at-stake situation.

I really wished I could have got to know other characters a bit more as I feel I honestly do not know anything about half the people I met. I do not even know much about the main character. I do love his mind set and how he handled this whole situation. There were some characters that really got on my nerves, but I am used to that in most of the Anime that I watch now.

The animation was great, and it managed to make certain scenes work. The opening song was good although I do admit I enjoyed the ending song just a little bit more.

Overall, I did enjoy this Anime and I loved having that extra-long first episode. I do want another season as the ending hinted towards more.

Honourable Mention #2
In/Spectre (12 Eps) – 4 Stars
This was a funny, easy going at times and damn right weird Anime. This had potential to being so much better but at the same time; it was still really entertaining. The first few episodes I was just trying to get used to the style and pacing of the show. Then the middle part of the show was really engaging. The pacing was good, and I was not bored. Then the last few episodes I just felt like it was being dragged on a bit too much and I saw many other people online saying the same thing. They should have cut the certain storyline down to less episodes.

I never really got to know any characters very well bar the main characters. Kurou was an interesting main character and although you do get to know a lot about him and he did play a big part in this show, I kind of felt I needed more from him. Kotoko stole the show and the centre of attention every time she was on screen. She was funny, engaging and really cute at times. I feel like if it were not for her; this Anime would have been a disaster. She was the only character that I felt happy to see on the screen and I felt more for her than anyone else.

The Animation was good, and the fight scenes were done well. I loved the different types of creatures that were also well animated. The opening song was catchy, but I doubt I would go out of my way to listen to it. The ending song was also very catchy, and I loved the Animation that played along with it.

Overall, I really loved this show, but I felt like it could have been so much better if certain things did not happen and other things happened more. Would I want to see more of this show? Yes. To see it improved, but I doubt it will happen. Though I have been wrong before.

#5
ID:INVADED (13 Eps) – 4 ½ Stars
This Anime shook me. I went into this Anime thinking it was not going to be good, but it ended up being the most improved throughout the series and it was engaging in ways other Anime this season failed. The start was a bit slow and shaky but after a few episodes and after I was used to the style of the writing, the pace, and the characters I was hooked, line and sinker. There is a reason why this is not a 5 Star rating; that is to do with certain things being predictable...

I think this is one of the first Anime where I really was confused with how I felt with all the characters. One moment I like a character, the next I hate them or vice versa. My emotions were conflicted with who was good or bad. All I can say is every character was necessary and every character was written and developed nicely. My favourite two characters were Sakaido and Hondoumachi.

I had no qualms about the Animation. It did its job and I loved how it was animated inside the “Well”. The opening song was catchy and fitting. The ending song for this Anime was one of my favourite endings for the season; its catchy, addicting and just epic. There was also many “Insert” songs that were perfect for the said scenes they played.

Overall, I really loved this Anime and it really was close to be a 5 star. This is an Anime that I will not forget and will most likely re watch in the future.

#4
The case files of Jeweler Richard (12 Eps) – 4 ½ Stars
If you said to me “you will watch an Anime about Jewels and love it” a year or so ago; I would have laughed so hard and went “hell no”. Here I am…after watching an Anime about said thing and I loved this show to the moon and back. Let us get one thing straight. This was not just about Jewels; if it were, I would most likely have giving up on this show. The main element to me was about relationships. Relationships between family, friends, and acquaintances. The pacing of this show was perfect, and I never thought it was being rushed or slow. When they wanted you to feel a certain emotion; you were feeling it. This was an almost perfect Anime.

I loved the many different characters that was introduced in this show, but I want to focus on the two main characters. Seigi is introduced as being a hero; always wanting to help people out when they are being treat wrongly or in danger. I knew in that moment that could be a fault in the future. I loved how kind he is, and I loved how he is willing to do anything and everything to help people. Richard was introduced as a stoic man with an analytical approach to things. He has a way with words and although he does not wear his emotions on his sleeve, you can still tell when he is feeling a certain way. The differences in both their personalities may in most scenarios mean they have nothing in common and nothing to bond over but throughout the whole series they do end up bonding and it creates a magical relationship. Whether you see them as a couple or just as best friend. This is one relationship that is built on a strong foundation.

The animation was done well, and I loved how amazing the Jewels were shown. The opening song was very fitting and nice, but the ending song was magic and simply perfect for this show. The feelings I already had from the show ends up going even crazier the moment the ending song starts.

Overall, I really loved this show and I will never underestimate an anime about a subject I would not normally be interested in. The ending was good, but I do want more from this show, so a second season would be amazing but if not…I can live with that.

#3
Haikyuu!! To the Top (13 Eps) – 5 Stars
After waiting so long for more Haikyuu!!, I would be lying if I said I was not excited as hell. I have said in previous posts; when it comes to anything to do with sport in real life then I will not engage with it but in Anime it is a different story. From the get-go I am hooked with this new season. The pacing was done nicely, and it flows very well. The Anime managed to successfully show off many moments including serious, comedic and action scenes without it going over the top and without it being too much at one time.

This season managed to develop many characters and its hard to talk about all of them, so I will only talk about a few of them. Hinata is one of the main characters and he has been slowly developing in character development and skills as a player in this sport. I have always loved his personality and we really see him develop in other ways that we have not seen him explore before. I have not always been a fan of Kageyama but in this series I started to like him just that bit more. We also see him develop more and see how he can lighten up at times. Yamaguchi, Tanaka and Shimizu all had moments that shone in my eyes and it was great to see them have a little bit of spotlight even if only for a bit. I love how they all get along and even when they make mistakes, they are still there for each other. True teammates and friendships.

The animation for the most part was done really well, but I did find sometimes they could not quite make certain characters look smooth when in mid-air. Though I know that is most likely tricky. The opening song was amazing and addicting. Though what more do you expect from Haikyuu!!. The ending song was nice and sweet but was not my favourite from this franchise.

Overall, I really loved this series and I can’t wait for the rest of this season as it was split into two parts.

#2
Radiant 2nd Season (21 Eps) – 5 Stars
The first season was good, but this season was AMAZING. I was already into this storyline from season 1 but this season improved on the storyline, pacing and character development. The problem I had with season 1 was that I thought it was a bit slow at times it should not be and fast at times I felt it should have slowed down. They managed to rectify it in this season. The fight scenes were done well, and I enjoyed every single fight; even when it was not centred on the main character. I felt more emotions; good or bad within this season and my heart found it hard to handle certain scenes.

I must admit my favourite character is Seth. He was VERY annoying in the first season but in this season, he really grew up and I could not help but be emotionally invested in him. Ocoho is one of the new main characters introduced and I really loved her from the get-go; with every other character in this series it takes a while before I like or not like them but with her I was just invested in the character. Her growth in just this one season was impressive. Other characters that made this series that much better were Mélie, Myr and surprisingly Diabal only because of a certain conversation.

The animation was the same as last season; thought I felt it looked cleaner during fights but that might be just me. Once again, this season only had one opening and one ending but the animation slightly changed. The opening would change the character near the end shot depending on the focus of the episode and I felt like the ending animation changed slightly though that could be me going crazy.

Overall, I really loved this season and I really hope that a season 3 is announced because I really want more from this crazy Anime.

#1
My Hero Academia 4 (25 Eps) – 5 Stars
Time for more Plus Ultra! Every time a season ends, we know a new season is just around the corner. Waiting for season 4 was just as hard as the past seasons. The wait was surely worth it. Just from episode 1 I am flung back into this crazy, epic and fantastic world of people with quirks. I love how unique each quirk is and I may say this every season but it’s true all the same. Even on the episodes where little action is done and it’s not as important it’s still just as interesting. There were scenes that was intense, and it had me feeling bad but in a good way and then there was moments that made me laugh out loud. There were also moments that made me cry; happiness, sadness and just being an emotional wreck. The action in this franchise has always been top tier and that quality did not drop in this season. The new storylines were engaging, and the pace of the season was perfect.

I can’t stop loving Midoriya (Deku). No matter what he’s doing; making mistakes or doing things right. He is strong, caring and loving. He always tries to do what’s best and seeing him go through this journey of trying to be the number 1 hero and gaining in skills, powers and techniques. Eri is one of the new characters introduced in this season and she’s so adorable and cute. I love how she doesn’t want anyone hurt because of her and that just reminds me of how far Deku is willing to risk and do to protect his friends. Kirishima also managed to get some spotlight which was amazing; we also  got some of his backstory which also helped me start to really like him as a character. The last character I’m going to talk about is Mirio. He is one of the big 3 in school and he is also someone who would do anything and risk anything to protect the ones he loves. His light-hearted nature is something that I really love about him. I really did start to like more characters in this season but also started to find other characters a little too annoying.

The animation is always good in this show. The fight scenes were done very well and the scenes where they are moving in air or something similar was done amazingly. The two openings for this season were really good but not as good as previous seasons. The two ending songs were amazing, and they were much better than the openings. There was an insert song called “Might+U” that was played in a certain episode that’s amazing and is hands down of my favourite insert songs for any anime.

Overall, this season was just everything that I wanted, and I honestly can’t wait for season 5. With that little sneak peek at the end of this season; it’s got me waiting. I will be patient and I will not dive into the Manga.

----

It was incredibly hard to order my 5th and 4th and then to order my 3rd and 2nd. My first was easy as this season of My Hero Academia was amazing.

My next post will be either a Top 5 or an announcement post.  Until then, have a good day.

My Top 5 Anime in Fall 2019

The season is over and so is the year. This season I did try to watch more than I could handle and ended up dropping some Anime; but did the Anime I kept watching, worth it?. Here is my Top 5 Anime and Honourable mention.

Honourable Mention #1
Assassins Pride (12 Eps) – 3 Stars
Talk about being confused after a couple of episodes. When I got what was going on; I enjoyed it. When I was lost and just really confused; I didn’t enjoy it at all.  I haven’t read the source material and from what others have said; the source material is so much better. Knowing this I can now figure out why I was so lost and confused. Not only did they just rush things; they also skipped things which included friendships being formed and just location changes and development. With that said; the pacing was awful and the storyline although interesting when I could follow it; lacked a lot of things. All the issued just went to the fact that the people behind this Anime adaption rushed this whole thing and it all fell apart. There were moments that I enjoyed and was entertained and some nice fighting scenes.

The main character Melida does grow in strength, courage and ability but a lot of this growth is off screen due to the issues I have stated in the first paragraph. I do like her; but I do find her annoying at times. Kufa is the main male character and I just like him in a whole. He knows what he must do to get his job done but he also has rules he bends if he feels it would be best. I just love how a hard, strong and capable character is swayed by a young child. I found Elise annoying, Rosetti funny and Nerva being a character I hated to begin with but then started to like her for reasons shown in the Anime.

Did I love the opening or ending song; not really. Was it catchy; yes it was, it fit the Anime and the characters, and I did start to try to sing along with it by the end of the season. Do I want a second season; no. What I want is for them to do a reboot and do it the justice people want and what I secretly want too. Will this happen; most likely not.

#5
Fairy Gone 2 (12 Eps) – 4 Stars
After watching season 1 of this show, I honestly wasn’t looking forward to this season, but I just wanted to watch it and finish it; to complete it. I said all the things that went wrong in season 1 and I have to say that they improved on so many of those problems. I mentioned in the previous season that I was confused with who was who and what was what and although it was confusing still at the start of this season; I did managed to get to grips with who actually was good and who was bad. I managed to get the gist of the plot of this whole thing, but I was still confused on why it took this long for me to finally make sense of this whole thing. The pacing of this season was done so much better and I am really impressed with how much they improved from last season to this season. That certain thing I was annoyed with as it was constantly being flung in my face was still mentioned a lot but this time it was less annoying as it was being developed while being mentioned. The fight scenes were just as good if not better than last season.

Character development is something I look to, especially in a second season as they have more time to develop said characters. Not only did they develop Marlya in the most amazing way; giving her more likeability and strength. They managed to develop other characters that never got any spotlights last season. I still found some characters to be annoying and not needed but I find that most Anime makes me feel this.

The OST in this Season was just as amazing as the last; which makes sense as it’s the same Artists as last season. The opening song was weaker than last season, but I did prefer this ending song. I said for season 1 that I was dreading season 2 but I am glad I watched it and it had an ending I can be pleased and happy with. This wasn’t the perfect Anime, but it manged to improve and make me happy that I stuck to it. No more though please, we don’t need any more seasons.

#4
Psycho-Pass 3 (8 Eps) – 4 ½ Stars
I was surprised when a 3rd season was announced and then I was also stupid as I never got around to watching the 3 movies that were released throughout the year. I did find out that it wasn’t the end of the world without watching them, but I will get to watch them at some point. I am still confused as to why certain things happened and if that is due to the movies then please let me know in the comments below. I didn’t like how it was going to be a shorter season but then thrilled to find out that each episode was going to be roughly 45mins long. I loved this season with the twists and turns and seeing more characters and learning more about things. I did feel at times the pacing was a little off for me. At times I felt like it was going to slow, then too fast and then too slow again and I was starting to wonder where it was heading.

The main two characters are opposites of each other but I did start to enjoy both of them for those two different personalities. I do admit I prefer Arata over Kei but that’s due to the fact I enjoy his personality more. You did have some characters that were in previous Seasons which was great too see them again.

I really loved the opening and ending songs. The opening being very catchy and addicting; I did feel that the opening was underrated in my opinion. The ending song was just fitting for Psycho-Pass. Overall, I did enjoy this season, but I need more; not just because of the ending but because I just love this series. With only a compilation film announced and not another sequel it makes me nervous if there will be more. Hopefully there will be either a season 4 or a sequel movie. Until then I will watch those 3 movies I didn’t get to watch and wait for more from this amazing franchise.

#3
Fire Force (24 Eps) – 4 ½ Stars
I honestly thought this Anime was going to be just another average show with fire and fighting. I was hooked from the get-go; the way it just dragged me in from just one episode. The only things in this Anime that made me not enjoy it was the random fan service moments and sometimes the pacing was a little bit weird and jumbled up. The storyline does have similar elements to other Anime; but made unique. They managed to make fire abilities unique with every character. In my head before this show was; fire is fire. After watching this show; I see how fire abilities can differ and how some ways of using fire could be useful in one situation but not another. The pacing of the Anime was at a steady pace for most of the Anime. It was only now and then did I find the pacing too slow or too fast. The fighting in this Anime was done in such a wonderful way. I enjoyed every fight that happened; even if it weren’t the main character.

Shinra is the main character in this show and I love him to bits. He isn’t dumb yet he does sometimes make mistakes. He does everything in order to be a hero. I love his creepy smile; it makes him unique. He strives to be stronger and will even help people when they don’t even ask to be helped. Arthur is dumb, silly and definitely the comic relief but that’s not all he is. The further this Anime goes; you get to see him get better in his fighting and skills. Iris is such an innocent and cute girl who may not be a fighter, but she is essential in this show to be the support role. Maki is a crazy, strong and in my opinion; best girl. Tamaki is good at fighting but can be the comic relief also; especially when it comes to the fan service moments. Hinawa at first seemed a little too cold and only obey rules but then there’s an episode that changed my mind. Oubi even without powers is such an amazing leader and strong in battle. Other than all the main characters, I also loved; Hibana, Vulcan and Flare & Sputter.

There was two openings and two endings for this fire Anime. If I had too choose based on the music fitting with the Animation, then I would say the first opening was better. If it was just based on song and song only; I would give it to the second opening. Both endings were amazing and fit with the show. I would choose second ending as my favourite based on the lyrics alone. I am so glad that I don’t have to wait to see if there will be a second season; as it was announced after the finale. I am so pumped and hyped for season two and I hope that I can rate the second season 5 Stars.

Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld (12 Eps) – 4 ½ Stars
I knew going into this Anime that it would be more focused on Alice rather than Kirito but I didn’t know that it was only going to be 12 episodes. The storyline was continuing from the season before both in the Game world and Real world. The pacing was perfect, and I never felt like it was being rushed. The animation within the fights that happened were amazing and I felt like if the Animation wasn’t good then the fights might not have had the same impact. The ending of this season was a little annoying as I just felt like it ended as if it were to continue but it wont until April. I hate saying this because we should let other characters get the spotlight, but I really miss Kirito being in action.

Alice is the main character in this season and I really loved how she protects Kirito and does everything to help others. She’s a capable fighter and she came into her own a lot more this season. Asuna gets to be in this season a bit more as they find out that something is wrong with Kirito and they can only potentially help him if they go into the game themselves. She volunteers to go into the game; no surprises there. There were other characters in this series, but I really felt they all had small parts but in those small parts they got to show off their personalities and fighting skills.

The opening song wasn’t as good as the past openings, but it was a good song. The ending song was a beautiful song sung by the amazing LiSA that nearly always gets to sing something in the SAO franchise which is just amazing that they keep her involved. I am looking forward to the last season of SAO.

Dr. Stone (24 Eps) – 5 Stars
When me and my partner decided to watch this; I honestly had a feeling it was going to be average and nothing too special but oh I was totally wrong. The storyline itself is unique in the sense it’s not all about the action, the characters; but also, science. For someone who wasn’t the best at science and found it boring; this show managed to make science seem fun and interesting. Was the first few Episodes slow; yes, but after a bit it started to pick up pace and the entertainment value just went higher and higher. The comedy in it was also amazing and not overdone unlike some Anime.

Senku is the main character and at first it seemed like his friend was getting more of a spotlight, but it ended up shifting to Senku, but there was a reason why this had to happen. He was a very well thought of character that I started to fall in love with after a few episodes. He isn’t your typical main male protagonist. I would summarise that in past Anime the main male character is either very overpowered from the get-go, or very weak from the very get go and then they grow to be stronger. Senku is smart; from the very start. He didn’t grow in the sense; he was dumb before this situation happened, but because he was smart from the get-go; he managed to turn this horrible situation into a situation that can be improved and some how move on from. He is a hero in the sense that he has the brain power and science knowledge with him that the others didn’t possess. He still makes mistakes, overlooks things and is weak in other situations; no one is good at everything, unless you are super lucky. Other characters that I also loved were; Chrome, Kohaku, Gen and Suika. I hated Tsukasa and Mantle

This Anime had two amazing openings and two amazing ending songs. If I had to choose my favourites; I would have to say the first opening was my favourite and then the second ending was my favourite. There was also a song that was sung in a certain episode that so beautiful; I don’t want to go into too much detail as it’s spoiler territory. I am so excited that a second season was announced right at the end of the last episode. I am now going to wait patiently (maybe?) for the next season.

----
I found it really hard to order 4-2 as I enjoyed all 3 in different ways. All 3 had something I wanted more of and hope I get more. In the end, I placed Psycho-Pass lower as I don't know if there is going to be a sequel vs the other two which have sequels announced.

My Top 20 Anime of 2019 will be up by the latest January 31st; hopefully earlier.

My Top 5 Anime in Summer 2019

The Summer season has ended and it's already so close to the end of the year, which is crazy as it felt like it only just started. Here is my Top 5 Anime and 1 honourable Mention.

Honourable Mention #1
Bem (12 Eps) – 3 ½ Stars
Everyone gave up this Anime pretty much straight away, but I was determined to watch the whole show; even if it meant I hated the whole journey. The journey of watching this Anime was a hard one to keep at, but the last few episodes showed me why I kept at it and potential this Anime had from the start. The storyline felt very complicated for a short series and I think that’s why there were some issues. I really enjoyed the fights in this Anime and I feel that’s one of the strengths this show needed to keep the few people they managed to keep. The pacing was shaky to start with but then by the end it managed to smooth out.

I feel so bad for hating on Sonia(Summers) in the early episodes as she did start to grow into her own and manged to make me eat my own words. I kept saying that she wasn’t doing enough and she was weak but I have to say; she deserves more praise by the end. Bem, Bera and Bero do not deserve to be hated; when all they do is try to help people. I don’t want to go into too much detail for these three characters as I feel I may spoil a lot of things. I hated more characters than I loved, but that meant the ones I did love; impressed me a lot.

The opening song is catchy; even if it took a good few weeks to get into. The ending song was really good and it was sung by Junna who has done some other amazing Anime songs. I really don’t think there will be more seasons and to be honest, the ending was good enough for me.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? II (12 Eps) – 4 Stars
Finally the wait is over for the next season of this fun, entertaining show. I really thought for a while it was just a joke that we were going to get a second season. I was diving into this with great expectations and at times it lived up to it, but at other times; I was really disappointed. So many things happened didn’t need to happen which just made me lose my focus and bored me. Don’t let that fool you with the fact this show was still funny and entertaining and I did enjoy it. The last few episodes in my opinion had no faults as it was mainly the getting to that point that caused the little issues I had.

I loved Bell last season and that hasn’t changed in this season either. He is just an entertaining character who wants to help those who is in need of help. He really is a hero in many ways and it’s a shame that from my POV, I feel he doesn’t see that. I know a lot of people will go ape crazy with the fact I actually don’t love Hestia. Don’t get me wrong; I like her but I don’t love her. I find her annoying at times but then at other times, I enjoy her onscreen. I do love other main characters in this show but only one character stood out more than other compared to last season. Mikoto was the character that improved the most to me and I loved her in this season.

I don’t really have a lot to talk about when it comes to opening and ending songs; as I wasn’t a fan of the opening or ending song. I do admit when the opening song played; it got me excited for the episode. With a 3rd season now announced; I can now look forward to a new season and hopefully it will improve and make me rate it a 5.

#4
High School Star Musical 3 (12 Eps) – 4 ½ Stars
A lot of Idol/Music Anime either just stay the same or get boring with every season they bring out, but this is one of the few that hasn’t gotten worse but has gotten so much better with everything they do. The storyline in this season was in my mind a lot more mature and handled in a much better way. I felt like they were going to lose in many situations and I did start get really invested in the main storyline in particular. Were there situations that I found stupid and not needed; yes but it was less often than the past seasons. The pacing was done really well and I felt they didn’t drag anything out too much.

I think having so many characters taking the spotlights in this season was one of negative things to occur but I didn’t let that ruin my enjoyment. The main character in this franchise has always been Hoshitani and I love him to pieces and I actually love how he’s like the light to guide everyone and help them come together. The other characters that I loved in this season were; Nayuki, Ageha, Tatsumi and Shiki.

The opening song was really good but I have to admit that the ending song was the better of the two. I loved all the insert songs and I felt they were greatly improved from the previous seasons. I felt more emotions and I could actually relate to some of the songs. The ending of this season did seem a little cheesy and a cheap way of solving a certain situation and it also feels like they may not be doing another season. I would understand if they don’t but I would gladly watch another season or even just ova’s.

#3
Given (11 Eps) – 5 Stars
I am so glad that more BL Anime is being made and not only is it BL but its Music themed too, best of both worlds. I then read the tag noitaminA and I knew this was also going to be an emotional Anime on top of everything else. I adored this show for so many reasons. The plot is unique as it’s very dark and emotional in a realistic way but then it also had those happy moments and times where you can’t help but laugh. The pacing was done really well and I felt they didn’t rush anything or let anything drag on too long.

Ritsuka Uenoyama when first introduced is just like an average guy but whose lost passion in all the things he used to love. At first I didn’t really connect with him, but in time I started to connect and love him as a character. Mafuyu Sato although as with Uenoyama I didn’t relate to at first, I did love him from the moment he entered the scene. I think it was because there was a sad/mysterious backstory to him that made me want to know everything and I enjoyed his presence. Akihiko and Haruki were the other two main characters, although not as important as the two, they were still likeable and Interesting. There wasn’t really any characters that I hated but that one girl did take it too far…you will know what I mean if and when you watch it.

The opening song is amazing and at first I didn’t know the translation so I was just going with how it made me feel and my own interpretation but then after a while I found out the English translation of the song lyrics and it made me love it even more. I love when the opening songs actually relate to the show and it’s not just some random song for an Anime. The ending song is also so pretty and emotional and also seeing the English translation for it just made it that much better. I know a second season hasn’t been announced but a Movie has and it’s said to be more centred around Akihiko and Haruki; so I am looking forward to that and can only hope for a second season. If it never happens then I will keep re-watching this season. Yes; it’s that good.

#2
Fruits Basket 1st Season (25 Eps) – 5 Stars
For someone who could not get into the original anime (2001), this new adaption caught my attention, as I couldn’t wait for the next episode to come each week. This version of the anime just drew me in and it did not require all the extra stuff that other anime uses to get me hooked. The way that the story was told and how it was paced was done really well. Not once did I find it boring or not appealing. Although there were episodes that I felt did not impact me with emotions in previous episodes, but it was needed so that I can breathe, with episodes that had an impact on me; hit me hard.

Tohru is just an innocent, pretty and strong girl. When I say strong, I mean in the mental way; not the strength way. Right from the moment you get introduced to her, you know she’s lost someone she loves and how she’s just trying to live her life without causing too much hassle for anyone else; which takes a lot of strength to do so. Yuki is the quite but lovable character that you see in many Anime but the difference is; he doesn’t see that he deserves to be loved and deserves good things and that makes him that much better than other characters. Kyo is the other main male character and who is the opposite of Yuki with the fact he’s more outgoing and loud. This doesn’t mean he’s not lovable and doesn’t deserve good things. All 3 main characters plus other characters have had tragedies happen in their life and it’s all about helping eachother and making bonds. Also the answer to whom I ship, whom with; it will have to be Tohru with Yuki (Kyo shippers don’t hate me please).

This season had two openings and two ending in total. I have to admit that I loved both endings and I really can’t choose a favourite between them two. The first opening was my favourite and although I didn’t like the second opening to begin with; it started to grow on me. With a second season already announced for next year and with the news they are adapting the whole Manga; we can look forward to many more emotional and memorable moments.

#1
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (26 Eps) – 5 Stars
When I saw this was being animated by ufotable, I may have low key got excited before I even got to watch the trailer or read more about it. I honestly thought it was going to be an average Anime with someone fighting for a reason that was important to him. I have to admit right now; I was so wrong. This Anime not only delivered the best Animation I have seen in a Shounen Anime but also managed to draw me into a world that showed me some really good, sad and epic moments that will be in my memories for a long time coming. I never once felt the pacing was too slow or too fast and when the episodes weren’t filled with Action it was instead used to develop plots or develop characters. I also want to point out that they managed to add comedy within this drama filled show.

Tanjirou; my sweet boy is such a great main character. I have most likely said this about so many other main characters but in this case; he really is one of my favourite male main characters in Anime. The first thing that I noticed was; he wasn’t annoying and I mean NEVER annoying which was such a relief as with most Shounen Anime that comes out has an annoying main character and for me it’s getting repetitive for that. He tries his everything in everything that he does and he never, ever gives up. He sees the best in everything and even shows respect to people and situations most people wouldn’t. His sister Nezuko is just pretty, cute, amazing and the chemistry that Tanjirou has with her is a bond that I rarely see in Anime. So this is where the annoying character comes into play. Zenitsu is a loud, crazy cry-baby but also was the reason why I laughed out loud at times during the show. Here is the underdeveloped character of the show. Inosuke is the character I really want to see more of in the future; not because I hate him, but because I can’t love him at the moment with the lack of development. There was also many other characters that I loved and also others that I didn’t like at all.

This was a two season Anime, but only had one opening and one ending; and I was fine with that. How can I complain about songs sung by LiSA. She has such a great voice and she did both the Opening and Ending song justice. I am really happy they announced a movie to develop the next ARC and hope that after this Movie that a second season is announced as I don’t want this journey to end anytime soon.

----
I had the hardest job putting my Top 3 in the order that I have placed them, as I rated all three; 5 Stars. This season was such a good season for shows to end.

See you for my next post which will be for my Top 5 Fall Anime Openings.
